Igor Ledochowski Conversational Hypnosis Interview
This is the first part in a mini series, containing an interview with Igor Ledochowski from Conversational-Hypnosis.com.
Today we are going to go back to basics look at exactly what is “Conversational Hypnosis”, how you can use it and what’s really possible for you to achieve with it… were promise we won’t get carried away – we will be honest and show you what it can’t do and it’s limitations too!
The area of hypnosis can be broadly divided up into two major types of hypnosis, and now we will give brief definitions of both to show you the difference and how conversational hypnosis fits into hypnosis overall.
Direct Hypnosis
The first is what is generally called “Direct” hypnosis and it’s what most people will think of when you talk to them about hypnosis. In Direct hypnosis it’s completely clear what’s happening. It is commonly understood as either clinical hypnosis where you visit a hypnotherapist to help resolve a personal problem, and stage hypnosis also falls into this category of direct hypnosis.
In direct hypnosis the hypnotist openly puts the subject into a trance and give them specific suggestions or instructions – either to overcome their problems… or act like a chicken, depending on who you visit
Indirect Hypnosis
The other type of hypnosis is what’s known as “Indirect” hypnosis. With this kind it is much less obvious what is happening.
You will still go into a trance, but it won’t be the kind of trance where you close your eyes and respond directly to the hypnotist. Instead, in most cases, you will be totally unaware that you are being hypnotized.
“Conversational Hypnosis” is the most common form of indirect hypnosis – also sometimes referred to as covert hypnosis.
As a very basic definition this is the ability to put someone into a mild trance like state during a regular conversation and without them being aware they are being led into a trance.
Once this is the case you can use this trance state to achieve the outcome or purpose that you desire.
Conversational Hypnosis follows all of the same principles as the more regular kind of direct hypnosis, but the big difference is that with Conversational Hypnosis, your subject will appear to be in a normal state of consciousness to all intents and purposes – to a passer by nothing out of the ordinary will be noticed, it will just look like an ordinary conversation
What hypnosis is and what it is not
First we will talk about what hypnosis is NOT – there are a lot of misconceptions of what is and isn’t possible. A lot of this mis-information comes from the media and is basically the idea that it is possibly to completely control someone else against their will.
This is simply not the case and I personally, I think it’s a good thing that this is NOT possible at all!
But “Wait” you’ll say, “In stage hypnosis people were running around acting like chickens and doing all sorts of crazy things. Surely the hypnotist had complete control?”
Well no not really to be honest… You see a stage hypnotist’s job is to create the illusion of control. Think about the very
first thing a stage hypnotist does. He invites people to volunteer and come up on stage. So anyone who doesn’t want to act like a chicken, are they going to volunteer? Of course not!
It is the exhibitionists, the people who want to show off who volunteer. The hypnotist then takes advantage of this, or their suggestibility and leads them down a path.. a path to acting like a chicken
So, does this mean that hypnosis won’t help you persuade people to do what you want them to?…. Far from it! :)
